You know you live in an insignificant country when…

The prospect of a small number of Hollywood celebrities, among whom Nicolas Cage (hence the photo), not setting foot on Norwegian soil makes the headlines, as top story even.

The occasion is, was or should have been the marriage of some Norwegian death/black/heavy metal band lead “singer” this autumn, allegedly postponed.

Of course, the whole thing is of no concequence to either of us, and, naturally, utterly uninteresting. But that’s just it, isn’t it: It still makes the headlines.

What are we? Starved on attention from the outside world? Unfortunately, that’s just what we are.

Exactly what would be the obvious thing to ask leaders of troubled regions visiting our country? I’ll tell you what Norwegian journalists would ask:

“Prime minister, how do you find Norway?”

And I kid you not.
