Norway’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Jonas Gahr Støre (as depicted) is, unlike officials from many Western countries, attending the UN Durban review conference in Geneva, but warns that any attempt, by Iran’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to cross the line with regards to Israel, will be met with sharp protests, according to a newswire report brought by Norwegian dailies VG Nett and Dagbladet.no (both sources in Norwegian).
He may soon find that he’d be held to his words, as:
Diplomats have walked out of a speech by the Iranian president at a UN anti-racism conference after he described Israel as a “racist government”.
– BBC News
Also, from CNN.com:
[...] Dozens of delegates walked out of the chamber as Ahmadinejad accused Israel and the West of making “an entire nation homeless under the pretext of Jewish suffering … in order to establish a totally racist government.”
He said Zionism, the Jewish national movement, “personifies racism,” and accused Zionists of wielding economic and political resources to silence opponents. He also blasted the United States-led invasion of Afghanistan.
A brief glimpse of the session in question (the blog post continues underneath YouTube clip):

So far there’s little news of Mr. Støre’s eagerly awaited reaction, but I expect it to be a sharp one. There are no reports as of yet that he’s left the conference chamber along with EU colleagues, but in an earlier statement said:
“Leaving the conference chamber would only deepen and reinforce the differences,” while emphasising that even for Norway there’s a limit to what’s acceptable, continuing
“But I cannot define, word by word, where to draw that line.”

Update:
According to newswire NTB, Mr. Støre entered the podium immediately after president Ahmadinejad, defending his right to express himself, while stressing that he rejected his allegations:
“I strongly reject the last speaker’s views,” pointing out that Ahmadinejad has placed himself “beside the rest”, contrary to the spirit of the conference, as “the odd man out”.
“Norway will not accept that the odd man out hijacks the efforts of the many,” Støre said (translated via Norwegian).

But sionism IS racism!
The question that needs to be answered though, is: is he right?
Never mind the politically correct crap, is Ahmadinejad correct in his statements? Granted the germans were mean to the jews 60 years ago (soon 70), but does that give the israeli the right to treat the palestinians the way they do?
As far as I am concerned, no. Every single time someone tries to comment on how the israeli mistreat people, the jews have started shouting “racist, anti-semitist”. In Sweden it’s the same for all our immigrants…if anyone tries to point out the facts, they are called “racists”. Usually for no reason what so ever other than to hide the truth.
I don’t give a crap about the Holocaust, I wasn’t involved and I wasn’t responsible. I don’t believe completely in the official story as history is always written by the winner and is never “truth”. Some of the lies have been proven to be propaganda during the way, meant to demonize the germans. Some of it will of course be true, but it should never be a crime (like in Germany) to have an opinion and to question what people say. They did that in the 1300′s, it shouldn’t happen in this day in age (not even in the arabic world, even though their culture is a thousand years behind the more evolved ones).
But the jew-issue is still completely taboo in the world. Possibly because the jews control much of the media and are a very influencial bunch of people. Unfortunately their way of handling things only creates tension. If they have nothing to hide and their version of the history is correct, they should welcome anyone who wants to question it. That’s how science work and religion doesn’t. Science wants people to question “the truth”, religion wants people to have pure “faith”. It’s up to people to figure out which they prefer. I have made my choice and I don’t accept anyone’s opinion/story without proof. Not saying I will automatically disbelieve their story either, but I will stay neutral until I have enough information.
But then again…I am not politically correct or an idiot.
Agreed, KK, which is why, probably, I should specify that this blog post is a report only, for those unable to get much meaning out of news in Norwegian.
But yes, Israel’s conduct leaves little doubt that Palestinians have been subjected to a form of racism which is all too similar to the kind many Jews still ought to remember (which, by the way, I’ve pointed out on several occasions).
In a sense it could even be argued that Mr. Ahmadinejad is right, even though we may doubt his motivation.
F-C-U-K ISRAEL. They fucking took a country like palestina. What the fuck would you do, if they took your state and names it ISRAEL. They kill innocent people each and everyday.. And you motherfuckers say that israel is right? You fucking punks should know the law of physics, a action has a equal reaction sooner then later and there will be a day you will all get assraped by your own doings.
These monsters murder innocent childeren daily, and you want to support them? with your Bs, votes, military equipment and money?
Your all murderers. Murderers without any moral.
Sooner or later i hope pakistan gives it A-bomb to iran, and that iran make a fucking tomato sause out of israel and put a fucking stop to this murdering regime, who stole a whole country.
FUCK ISRAEL and anyone that supports this murdurus regime.
If you support israel economically, then your no better then them.
YOur a killer. You better have that on your consious..
FUCK ISRAELlllllllllll!
Get these terrorists out of Israel, they should go home to their own country an stopp occupying Judea and Samaria.
There is no such thing as a “palestinian” country and there never has been such a country. Palestine is an area like scandinavia, not a contry. Israel, Jordan and Syria er all part of the palestinian region and the arabs already occupy more than 90 % av it.
These terrorist who call themselves “palestinians” came to Israel under the pretext of being refugues from various mohammedanian contries just to fall their saviors in the back and trying to steal their country just as soon as they were many enough.
You stupid assholes slandering Israel will probably not see that I am right before your own country is lost to these mohammedanian terrorist!
1. When did the jews win the war? Is their story a story of winners?
2. Palestine is not a country. Jordan is. It was founded in 1922. Most “palestinians” descend from this country. Many “palestinians” (arab-palestinians) live in peace inside the Israeli borders.
3. Israel is not perfect by far, and should be criticized. But dialouge is the answer. Hateful comments is the path to war.
4. Read up on history before you comment a complex issue. Ignorance is not bliss.
5. Both sides do terrible things to each other. If you are not able to balance your own arguments – you will never be able to say anything intelligent on this matter.
I would not call Israel a racist nation at the moment, but it is a nation facing the problem av racism, both in daily politics, but so even more in the future.
Problem is: The Arab population within Israel grows much faster than the Jewish population, even when we take into consideration Jewish immigration to Israel. In not so far future the Arabs will outnumber the Jews, and the Jewish state can be turned into an “Arab” state by democratic means.
This coming “problem” became an element in the last electoral campaign, and even before that it was adressed by the former prime minister Ehud Olmert, among others.
The situation could easily be: Choose a Jewish nation, or choose a road towards segregation and racism.
Arild and frr: I second that! As mentioned before, the problem isn’t Israel, or the Israelis, but the Israeli government — and, to some extent, the IDF‘s conduct in occupied territories.
Whether Palestinian territories, i.e. Gaza and the West Bank, belong to the Palestinians or not, is completely irrelevant in this context. At least we know one thing for sure: It certainly doesn’t belong to Israel, whose authorities nevertheless act as if they did.
Actually Arild Israel used to be named Palestine, until it got changed again after WWII. I have no opinion to share, but at least get your facts straight!
There is no comparison between israel and nazi germany.
Jews NEVER blew themselves up on the streets of Berlin or on buses in Frankfurt. The opposite: Jews fought in the German army during the first world war. They were integrated in the society and paid taxes like everybody.
The arab-palestinians are terrorists. They shoot at innocent. The blow up buses and they aim rockets at cities. ANY COUNTRY would fight. It is RACIST to expect that Israel should do nothing to terrorists who live amongs it and around it!
What are the islamic people doing outside Mekka, destroying and conquering every strip of land belonging to others. maybe an airplane or 2 should kiss the Kabaa just to make an parallel to 9/11.
Israel is a pirate state, founded on stolen land. The fact that Jews controlled the area 2000 years ago does not justify what happened in 1946-48, when some 2 million Jews invaded Palestine.
The ethnic cleansing taking place now is nothing but an extreme form of racism. How can any reasonable person support this ?
The name Palestine refers to a specific historical area. We don´t have to go far back in time to find both the terms palestinian-arab and palestinian-jew. They have coexisted here for centuries. Today we only have jews and palestinians (meaning palestinian-arab). Anyone with a little bit of insight knows that “the palestinian people” was a construct of war, and the escalating conflict between arabs and jew (after -1948). Arafat was to a large degree responsible for this term to be widely accepted. In fact a large potion “the palestinian people” is of Jordanian descendants. In other words its a mix of different groups. And these groups have technically not been merged long enough to be called “a people”
But I agree with Jarle. At this point this is not very interesting who the West Bank/Gaza used to belong to, or if the palestinians is a legitimate people. As of now it belongs to the palestinians. Israel has to accept this, and certain groups within the palestinian community has to accept the existence of Israel. Thats the only way to go.
I fear we’re about to get tangled up in mere semantics here. Granted the history of Palestine, which includes current Israeli and “Palestinian” territories, is long and cumbersome, with different rule over the centuries — or millennia, even.
What we do know for certain, though, is that Israel of today far exceeds the borders drawn up in the 1948 UN Partition Plan. Also, as pointed out by several, the Arabs and the Jews co-existed quite amicably in historic times.
It’s been ages since I last read Khalil Gibran’s compulsory The Prophet (now made available in its entirety on the Internet — chapter by chapter, strongly recommended, for those interested), but vividly recall accounts of peaceful and mutually respectful interactions among Arabs and Jews throughout the entire Middle East region.
In my opinion, a two-state solution — and shared sovereignty over, and access to, The Temple Mount — could put an end to the seemingly infinite conflict.
Whether such arrangements are feasible or not, is, of course, a different question altogether.
About historical muslim relations to jews:
It’s a lie that muslims have treated jews well over history. Just because muslims weren’t as CRUEL as christians doesn’t mean that muslims were any good to the jews. They’re thousands of recorded cases were muslim ruling forced jews to live in ghettos, murder, “disappearance”, destruction of synagogues and forced conversions.

Jewish-Muslim antagonism goes both ways, I suppose, Mattias. There’s not a doubt in my mind that Jews have treated Muslims badly over the centuries — and vice-versa. We see that happen even today, as you may well know.
That hasn’t always been the case, though, for instance during the British Mandate of Palestine.
May I, as a very palpable sign thereof, draw your attention to a most suggestive picture (please also read accompanying text)?
No, I don’t agree with you saying that “Jewish-Muslim antagonism goes both ways”.
Why do you say “There’s not a doubt in my mind that Jews have treated Muslims badly over the centuries”?? On what basis? Guesses? Jews have since the Roman era never been in a majority in any country before the 20th century. When would they have attacked muslims?
It would appear that we’ve encountered a case of not-so-uncommon different opinions, Mattias. I could of course substantiate mine with loads of links to accounts in support of my view, but as you know, every version of the truth invariably will have several versions countering it.
I would like to add this, though: You don’t have to be in majority in order to treat other people badly (exemplified by South Africa up until approximately 15 years ago, for instance). But as earlier mentioned, it’s my impression that antagonism goes both ways, corroborated by current events.
I hope Allah (OUR ONLY GOD, its up to you guys weather to believe it or not) will forgive all the human beings for the mistakes that has, is and will be done by them. Believe it or not the holy Quran does NOT CONTAIN even a mistake because it is the word of OUR GOD. But bible do contain mistake because it is the word of human and human make mistakes. I really don’t want to see me or u guys in hell. Because it is not a place to live. Im a muslim and i love everybody including israels. Nobody lives forever, just think how u guys are going to face our god by ur doing these day. Allah please forgive us. amin.
