For cold war nostalgists

Imagine, it’s 20 year’s since the Berlin wall fell today! I suppose that, like most, I’m glad it did, but can’t help missing a more lucid world, with us good guys in the West and the bad guys in the East. Very, very bad guys.
Last week I browsed the web for communist memorabilia, but would be lying if I claimed to have found much worth mentioning. Fired by, above all, nostalgia, I decided to put up a sub-site, hard-coded, just as we did it almost 20 years ago. But I wanted to recapture the very look and feel of early 1990′s web pages, too – sans the animated gif’s that flourished at the time, of course. There are limits (although I must admit to overdoing the textured backgrounds back in the on-line stone ages – along with the occasional <blink> tag).
One might almost suspect a certain amount of communist sympathies on my part, but I can assure you that nothing would be farther from the truth. On the other hand I miss the old commie buggers, too, with their dachas and their Volga ZIL’s, driven by fur-hatted, uniformed drivers.
I launched the pages today, with only a handful of cold war memorabilia and propaganda items, I’m afraid, but promise to follow up with more in the days to come. Care for a look-see? Just click the picture:

I solemnly swear never to let Insignificances become overly significant in any way. Which is not to say that it's devoid of significant matters. My take on the matters, on the other hand, is highly insignificant, rendering the entire blog… Well, insignificant.
